Former British prime minister Boris Johnson will appear before a parliamentary committee next week that is investigating whether he misled lawmakers over Covid-19 lockdown-breaking events in Downing Street.
Mr Johnson's appearance has been confirmed for Wednesday 22 March. The cross-party Privileges Committee said it would question him on a range of matters arising from evidence submitted to its inquiry.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has committed to giving Conservative Party members the freedom to determine his predecessor's fate with their conscience.
If the committee rules that Mr Johnson deliberately misled the House of Commons, it could recommend a suspension that may ultimately lead to a by-election in his Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituency.
