PHILADELPHIA - Temple University President Jason Wingard has resigned from his position after less than two years on the job, the school announced Tuesday.
Wingard's resignation has been accepted by Temple University's Board of Trustees and will be effective Friday, Mar. 31. Wingard faced a voe of no-confidence from Temple University's faculty members after rising violence on and around the school's North Philadelphia campus.The Temple community has also been reeling from the shooting death of Sgt.
Christopher Fitzgerald. A recent strike by Temple's graduate students over compensation and benefits have also happened under Wingard's tenure. "The Board will designate a small group of senior Temple leaders to guide the university.
This group will have many years of experience at Temple and devotion to its mission," the university wrote in a message to the Temple community.
