Scotland’s booster programme continues to roll on at pace in a bid to protect the population against Covid during the winter months.

The latest public health data shows that 53.4 per cent of Scots aged 18 and over have received their third dose of the Covid vaccine.

Queues of Scots have been pictured waiting outside vaccination centres since the pool of people eligible for the booster was widened.It is hoped that all Scots adult will receive an appointment for their third dose by the new year.

The Scottish Government decided to accelerate the booster programme in a bid to tackle the new threat posed by Omicron. Nicola Sturgeon yesterday revealed that the new variant has now become the dominant Covid strain in Scotland.
