SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - A 41-year-old man was injured in a drive-by shooting in Southwest Philadelphia.The shooting happened on the 1600 block of South 51st Street Saturday afternoon, just after 1:30, according to officials.The 41-year-old victim was outside when someone in a silver sedan drove by and shot him.The driver of the sedan then drove off.Medics took the man to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries. He is listed in stable condition.Police in the 12th District are investigating the scene.

OGONTZ - A man and a woman are recovering after they were both shot in Philadelphia’s Ogontz section.35th District police were called to the 1800 block of Stenton Avenue Saturday afternoon, around 1:30 p.m., for the double shooting.Police discovered a 30-year-old man shot eight times throughout his body and a 30-year-old woman shot one time, according to officials.Both of the victims were taken to Einstein Medical Center in private vehicles and both were placed in stable condition.Police are investigating the shooting.

PHILADELPHIA - A man has been arrested and charged for the robbery and assault of woman in Center City last week.Police say a 25-year-old female city worker was attacked from behind on the 1400 block of Callowhill Street, in front of the Philadelphia Police headquarters around 6 a.m. on September 14.Surveillance video reportedly caught the moment she was pulled to the ground and dragged about 10-15 feet by the suspect.

MAPLE SHADE, N.J. - A judge has allowed a man to plead guilty to aggravated manslaughter in the shooting death of a New Jersey high school soccer player despite pleas from the victim’s family that the proposed 15-year sentence was too lenient. Twenty-one-year-old Yohan Hernandez of Newark was charged in the slaying of 18-year-old Moussa Fofana, a junior on the Columbia High soccer team. He was shot on a field outside the Underhill Sports Complex in June 2021.

COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) emphasizes that the section 2 of the Official Secrets Act enables to declare any land, building, ship, or aircraft as a prohibited place, and does not empower the Minister to declare large areas as High Security Zones.On Friday (23), Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe declared multiple areas in Colombo as High Security Zones.  Accordingly, unless the prior written permission of the Inspector General of Police or Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Western Province is obtained, no person shall conduct or hold a public gathering or procession whatsoever on a road, ground, shore or other open area situated within the High Security Zones.The BASL states that it is deeply concerned with regard to the e declaration of certain areas in Colombo as High Security Zones, and whether the purported order of the President also seeks to create offences under the said order which are not found in the Principal Act.The statement reads; " It is also of utmost concern that the purported order imposes stringent provisions in respect of bail by stating that a person taken into custody in connection with an offence under the said orders shall not be granted bail except by a High Court.

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - Cherry Hill police are investigating a deadly accident in Camden County involving a vehicle and a New Jersey Transit bus. The accident happened in Cherry Hill on westbound Route 70, at Kings Highway, Friday night, just before 6 p.m. A vehicle crashed into the back of the New Jersey Transit bus, according to authorities. Officials said 14 people were on the bus, which was traveling to Philadelphia from Berlin. Cherry Hill police reported Route 70 westbound, at Kings Highway, was closed as they investigate the crash.
