Close to a third of all travel to Ireland from overseas is for the purpose of 'visiting friends and relatives,' according to Tourism Ireland. But Ireland's cautious approach to international travel means it could now be a full calendar year – or more – before those living abroad can safely travel home here to meet up with their families and loved ones again.
