Ireland has recorded its highest number of daily coronavirus cases since May. There were 200 new cases of coronavirus reported in the Republic of Ireland today.
The figure is the highest daily total reported in almost three months, raising fears of a second wave. Dr Ronan Glynn, Ireland's acting chief medical officer, said: "This is the largest number of cases in a single day since the beginning of May. "We now have multiple clusters with secondary spread of disease and rising numbers of cases in many parts of the country. "This is deeply concerning.
NPHET (National Public Health Emergency Team) will monitor this extremely closely over the coming days. "This virus is still out there and has not gone away.
