A new interactive map tracking estimates of coronavirus cases in every area of England shows numbers are beginning to fall. The map provides estimates of where the numbers are going up and down by city, county or borough, and has captured a plateau over the past fortnight.

On Wednesday, the UK recorded its second deadliest day in the pandemic for a second day in a row with 1,820 more victims losing their lives to the virus.

The country is approaching a grim milestone, with each new daily death toll bringing the UK a step closer to 100,000. Boris Johnson is said to be making plans to keep lockdown in place until Easter, when the vaccine rollout is hoped to start showing an impact.
