People queued for Covid-19 tests after being urged to get swabbed even if they have no symptoms. The borough of Pendle in East Lancashire has one of the highest infection rates in the country.

Council leaders fear a full Leicester-style lockdown if a recent surge in cases is not controlled. And the people of Pendle, which includes the towns of Nelson, Colne and Barnoldswick, answered the call.

The Mirror on Wednesday joined worried residents at two testing sites, one a drive-in and the other a walk-up. Outside the Pendle Rise shopping centre in Nelson, a team of nurses guided passers-by through the process.
