WAAY-TV in Alabama reported Monday that roughly 70 people were on a waitlist to get a reservation for the room at Motel 41 in Evansville, Indiana.

A Motel 41 employee told the media outlet that a customer stayed in the room Sunday night after the motel had already received 25 phone calls from customers about the room’s availability the same day. RELATED: Alabama jailbreak mystery deepens as Casey White manhunt ends with deathThe going rate for the room the duo stayed in is $75 to $100 per night, which is slightly higher compared to regular motel room rates that cost $65 a night, WAAY-TV reported.The employee went on to say that motel employees removed the room number sign where Casey and Vicky were staying in after someone tried to swipe it.

Casey White, 38, escaped from the Lauderdale County Detention Center in Florence, Alabama, on April 29. Vicky White, 56, was the assistant director of corrections at the Lauderdale County Detention Center and is accused of helping the suspected killer escape.

The AAP’s first update to its safe infant sleep recommendations since 2016 was just published in the bulletin "Sleep-Related Infant Deaths: Updated 2022 Recommendations for Reducing Infant Deaths in the Sleep Environment."The AAP says the risks of sleep-related infant deaths are up to 67 times higher when infants are sleeping with someone on a couch or soft armchair or cushion. Researchers note the chances of death can be 10 times higher when infants are sleeping with someone who is impaired because of fatigue or use of sedating medications or substances such as alcohol or illicit drugs; or is a smoker. The AAP also says the risks of sleeping on the same surface with someone else also increase 5-10 times when an infant is under four months of age; is sharing the surface with someone other than a parent; or is a pre-term or low-birthweight, regardless of other factors.The academy also called out the use of inclined chairs such as bouncers and rockers.

AUSTIN, Texas - The head of the Texas Department of Public Safety says three minutes after a gunman entered a school where he slaughtered 19 elementary students and two teachers there was sufficient armed law enforcement on scene to stop the gunman. Yet police officers armed with rifles stood and waited in a school hallway for nearly an hour while the gunman carried out the massacre. Col. Steve McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, called the police response "an abject failure." Delays in the law enforcement response have been the focus of the federal, state and local investigation of the massacre and its aftermath.The police commander made the comments while giving testimony during a special Texas Senate committee on the deadly school shooting that left two teachers and 19 children dead.
