A "morbidly obese" dad who spent nine weeks in hospital battling Covid has vowed to completely transform his life after his terrifying brush with death.
Daimon Keith, 50, was rushed to hospital in March last year after complaining of breathing difficulties. The dad-of-two was so ill from coronavirus that even a ventilator wasn't deemed enough to keep him alive.
Instead, he needed to be put on a life-saving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMMO) machine - which takes over a patient's heart and lung functions to allow the organs to recover.
The treatment is reserved for only the sickest patients, and the Wythenshawe Hospital is one of just five adult ECMO centres in the country.
