DOVER, Del. - A traffic stop turned drug search has taken yet another turn amid accusations of racial profiling.Delaware State University, a historically black college, will file a formal civil rights complaint against the Liberty County Sheriff's Department after the lacrosse team was stopped in Georgia, according to Tony Allen, the university's president.Allen says the deputies performed a "constitutionally dubious stop and search" of the lacrosse team and their bus as they drove home on April 20.The team was pulled over in Liberty County for an alleged minor traffic violation. Deputies then boarded the bus to announces they would be conducting a search."If there is something in there that is questionable, please tell me now because if we find it, guess what? We’re not going to be able to help you," one deputy said.Allen claims the stop and search was a violation of rights for every passenger on the bus, as well as the driver."Our first and most immediate concern was our students and coaches mental and physical well-being," he said.Allen says he has been in contact with Liberty County's sheriff, whose recent comments have raised several questions.Recently released body camera footage shows the deputies and drug-sniffing dogs searching the team's luggage and personal belongings.

India on Saturday reported 2,858 Covid-19 cases and 11 deaths in 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said in its report. With this, the caseload has surged to 43,119,112, while the active cases were declined by 508 in 24 hour span. Altogether India has a total of 18,096 active Covid cases as of May 14. The daily recovery has increased to 3,355 while cumulatively 4,25,76,815 have been recuperated to date, accounting for 98.74% of the total cases.

LEON COUNTY, Texas - A manhunt is underway for an inmate who escaped custody in Leon County, Texas by stabbing a corrections officer while being transported.Gonzalo Lopez, 46, was being transported on a bus with 15 other inmates from Gatesville, headed eastbound on Highway 7 to Huntsville Thursday afternoon. PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a police officer and two juveniles were hurt in a near head-on collision Friday in Philadelphia. According to police, an officer in a police vehicle was attempting to stop a black Ford being driven by a juvenile on the 3800 block of Aspen Street. During the pursuit, investigators say the Ford rammed into the front passenger's side of an oncoming police cruiser. The driver and another juvenile were brought to the hospital for observation, police said. The officer was also hospitalized in stable condition, according to police. AdvertisementAn update from the Philadelphia Police Department mentioned that officers made an arrest, but they did not share information on the suspect.

North Korea said 243,630 people had recovered and 280,810 remained in quarantine. State media didn’t specify how many of the fever cases and deaths were confirmed as COVID-19 infections.

The total Covid tally in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras reached 196 on Saturday with 13 more infections being reported, as per news agency ANI reports.  On Friday the institute reported at least 11 more positive cases. 

Another 11 people tested positive for COVID-19 in IIT Madras and with that, the total positive cases in the area are now 182, Dr J Radhakrishnan, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary, informed. 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, on Tuesday reported 31 fresh Covid-19 infections in the campus, with the total tally touching 111.

Ma Subramanian, along with Principal Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan and senior department officials, inspected the IIT-M campus today to take stock of the situation.

Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases reported in some parts of India, around 12 people have tested positive for the virus at IIT Madras.
