PHILADELPHIA - Authorities in Delaware say an emaciated dog died after it was found "clinging to life" inside a wire crate surrounded by brush on the side of the road.Officials say workers from the Delaware Department of Transportation made the gruesome discovery off North Little Creek Road near the Route 1 overpass.The female dog, estimated to be around 2-years-old, lost most of its hair and was covered in sores and scabs. Reading YMCA READING, Pa. - A Hazmat situation at a Berks County YMCA caused over 10 people to be treated for respiratory and skin irritant reactions.Crews were called to the YMCA on Washington Street in Reading for a reported Hazmat situation.Officials said a mixture of chemicals created a gas which caused somewhere between 10 and 20 people to have mucus, irritation and rash reactions.According to authorities, some people were treated at a fire station, while two to three people were transferred to a nearby hospital.No one suffered life-threatening injuries.Crews are working to investigate the cause of the chemical mixture.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Officials in Bucks County say they have started spraying for mosquitos in areas where colonies of West Nile Virus-carrying insects have been found."If we have an area where we have positive mosquitoes in a number it might spill over to the human population we set up spraying in those areas," Bucks County Environmental Health Director Phil Smith said. Most people infected with the virus do not feel sick, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About one in five people who are infected develop a fever and other flu-like symptoms, and about one out of 150 infected people develop a serious, sometimes fatal, illness, according to the agency."If you’re over 50 with a suppressed immune system and go on a full-blown West Nile virus with meningococcal symptoms with, extremely high fever, you could require hospitalization," Smith warned. The Pennsylvania Health Department has reported four West Nile virus cases, and officials says that number can multiply quickly as mosquitoes breed and potentially carry the virus to humans.
