PHILADELPHIA - A summer barbecue turned deadly Tuesday night after police say several shots were fired into a crowd in one Philadelphia neighborhood.Police say people were enjoying a barbecue on the 1800 block of Harrison when a car approached and a suspect opened fire around 8:14 p.m.The suspect continued shooting back at the crowd of people as it drove off, according to police.One woman was reportedly hit in the back as she sat on the porch. PHILADELPHIA - A man is fighting for his life after police say an intruder opened fire inside his family home as they slept Wednesday morning.The 20-year-old was found heavily bleeding in his when police responded to a house on the 800 block of North 43rd Street around 2 a.m.His family reportedly told police that someone entered their home, shot the man inside his third-floor bedroom, then fled.Police say nine people currently live in the home, including five children ages 5 to 15. They were all reportedly asleep on the second and third floors when the shooting rang out.Six spent shell casing were found inside the bedroom of the victim, who is said to be in critical condition after suffering several gunshot wounds.No one else was injured during the invasion shooting.

UPPER DARBY, Pa. - Coworkers of a SEPTA employee who was killed in a hit-and-run last week gathered on Tuesday night to remember their friend and to call on the person responsible to come forward. Police say last Wednesday, July 27, they responded to West Chester Pike and Kenmore Road in Upper Darby for an accident involving a motorcycle and a minivan. Jean Carrie, 43, was riding his motorcycle when a minivan hit him and drove away. Carrie, a SEPTA employee for the last 16 years, succumbed to his injuries and died days later. "I hope they find this person. It harbors on your heart to lose someone.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. - The Norristown Police Department held its National Night Out celebration on Tuesday in an effort to strengthen the relationship between the community and local emergency responders. The community block part gave neighbors a chance to connect with local authorities in a fun environment that included live music and face painting. "One of the goals is building that strong trust with the community so when something does happen, they'll be witnesses, call 911 when they hear gunshots or anything like that," Norristown Police Chief Derrick Wood said. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESWood, a former inspector for the Philadelphia Police Department, was appointed to lead the Norristown department in December. UPPER DARBY, Pa. - Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting they say happened in an Upper Darby home on Tuesday night. Officers from the Upper Darby Police Department were called to a residence on the 200 block of Kinston Road around 7:30 p.m. Police have not shared information about the victim or what circumstances lead to the fatal shooting. The department tweeted that the scene is secure and asked the public to stay away from the area. Kingston Road is currently shutdown from Maderia to Shelbourne, according to police.

Police say a man is dead after he was shot multiple times in the chest on Tuesday night in West Philadelphia. HIGGINSVILLE, Mo. - James Lloyd Shipley, one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, was laid to rest Monday at the Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri, with full military honors. According to his obituary, Shipley passed away on July 21 at the age of 99. Shipley was born on June 29, 1923, in Tipton, Missouri, and had a lifelong dream of becoming a mechanic. When he was 19 years old, he voluntarily joined the Black Army Air Corps. He completed his basic training at the Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama.

SHARON HILL, Pa. - Activists and family members of Fanta Bility are demanding the full release of a heavily redacted report into the police shooting death of the 8-year-old outside a high school football game last fall.The investigative report, released last Friday, examined the Sharon Hill Borough Police policies and procedures in the wake of the deadly shooting at Academy Park High School's football field. The report was largely redacted, with any findings and recommendations obscured from public view."We can not stand here today and allow our Borough to ignore us, to not share with us their findings," Sheila Carter of the NAACPAuthorities say in late August, Bility and her family were leaving the Academy Park High School football field among a crowd of fans when a shooting between two young men erupted. Bullets from that shooting came in the direction of three Sharon Hill Police officers who were monitoring the crowd. The officers returned fire, shooting toward a car they believed was involved in the initial gunfire, striking the car and members of the crowd.
