Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan has said if coronavirus cases get down to less than 100 cases a day by the beginning of December, officials would achieve what they are setting out to achieve over the next six weeks.
Speaking on RTÉ's News at One, Dr Holohan said this would achieve the protection of public health, protect the school and education services, protect vulnerable people and protect the health service, in particular for people who are waiting for operations, appointments and services.
He said the level of infection in the population at the moment represents a risk to all of these. "If we as a society can get to a level of behaviour now, that brings that R (reproductive rate) value down as low as possible, if we got this to
