Two full year groups have been told to stay home from their high school after a rise in Covid cases. Parents received a message on Monday morning telling them that Years 8 and 9 should not attend Alder Community High School, in Hyde, Tameside.
In it, headteacher Richard O'Regan said: "Owing to a sudden rise in covid cases and other staff absences we are unable to provide appropriate supervision for students today.
Therefore, Year 8 and Year 9 will need to stay at home and access remote learning on Teams." The head apologised for not being able to inform families sooner, adding: "I will keep you informed."
