Northern Ireland's high Covid case rate is being driven by infections in the young but it is often older people who are dying as a result, according to the regional head of the British Medical Association.
Dr Tom Black was speaking as the death rate remained relatively high. The health authorities have announced plans to vaccinate children aged 12-15 and commence a winter booster programme.
Over the summer, the infection rate and the number of deaths in Northern Ireland far outstripped those in the Republic. At one point, the deaths were running at around five times those south of the border.
