Here's Why Four 'Amazing Race' Teams Didn't Return After Hiatus for COVID-19

The Amazing Race finally returned to CBS this month after being off the air for more than two years and this season is unlike any other.

After filming just three legs of the race, production was paused due to COVID-19 affecting the world back in February 2020. The nine remaining teams were told that they would be invited to resume the race when the time was right, but only five of them decided to return.

To add some more competition to the pack, producers invited back the two teams that had already been eliminated, so seven teams continued with the race.

Two of the big changes due to COVID-19 are that teams will all fly on chartered airplanes to avoid public transportation and they also will all drive themselves around cities instead of taking taxis. Click through the slideshow to see who didn’t return and why…
