COLOMBO (News 1st) – Several roads have been inundated due to the prevailing showery condition across Sri Lanka.Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre (Kalutara district) said water levels, in a section along the Aluthgama – Mathugama road near the Welipenna Interchange of the Southern Expressway, measured up to 1.5 feet.
Vehicular movement has been restricted due to this.The Paragoda area along the Bulathsinhala – Molkawa road has flooded with water levels reaching upto 10 feet, after the sluice gates of the Kukuleganga Reservoir were opened.Several other roads including Walallavita-Avittawa road and Walallavita-Pelawatta road have been inundated as well.The Waste Management Unit (Gampaha district) said a section of the Biyagama Road near the Pattiwila Water Treatment Plant is inundated.The Biyagama – Malwana road has also been inundated..
