Health officials investigate 'Yorkshire variant' after 49 cases emerge

Covid strain that has been dubbed the ‘Yorkshire variant’. The latest UK Government data reveals that 49 cases of the AV.1 strain of the virus have been discovered south of the border.

No cases have so far been detected in Scotland. Our partner title Yorkshire Live reports that most the cases have mainly been found in the Yorkshire and Humber region of England - which is around 120 miles away from the border with Scotland.
