The Hairy Bikers' Si King has given a health update on his close friend Dave Mylers after the popular chef was diagnosed with cancer.

Dave, 64, went public with his diagnosis in May but is yet to reveal the type of cancer he is suffering from. During a live cooking presentation at Bolton Food and Drink Festival, Si, 55, shared some insight into his co-star's cancer battle.

He began by thanking those in the crowd for their support and reassured them by saying that Dave is "in the trenches" but that he is "getting there".

He continued: "I just wanted to say, from Dave and I, thank you so so very much for all of the goodwill and support, all the messages really do not go unnoticed. "He's doing canny but as you appreciate he's right in the trenches of it all at the minute but he's getting there, thank God." Si appeared on stage with TV presenter Jenny Powell, after Dave had been forced to pull out of the festival appearance due to his health battle, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
