Great Scottish Run cancelled this year due to coronavirus pandemic

Organisers say coronavirus restrictions in Scotland mean it is 'not possible' to go ahead with the event due to its size, which in previous years has had more than 30,000 competitors.

The Great Scottish run is due to be rolled over to a new date next year on Sunday, October 2.Organisers of the event announced the cancellation on the Great Scottish Run's official Facebook page.

The statement read: "We are really sorry to let you know that this year's #GreatScottishRun, due to happen on Sunday 3 October, has been cancelled. :Unfortunately, ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in Scotland mean it’s not currently possible.
