Grandparents could be able to see their grandchildren again from as early as next month as part of ambitious new plans. Ministers are looking to begin lifting lockdown restrictions from March 8, starting with re-opening schools but likely quickly followed by easing of outdoor meet-up rules.
The recreation clause included in the November lockdown but removed from the January 4 update could be reinserted meaning people from different households would be okay to meet on a one-to-one basis for more than just exercise.
The Government would, however, make children exempt - like in November - meaning they could tag along with an adult from their household to see a grandparent outside.
