The Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ronan Glynn, has moved to reassure people over the speed at which vaccines for Covid-19 have been developed.
In a statement setting out his opinion, released by the Department of Health, Dr Glynn gives the reasons why the usual timeline for vaccine development had been reduced.
And he urged people to hold firm and continue their collective efforts in the months to come. Dr Ronan Glynn said none of the factors that had influenced the rapid development of the Covid-19 vaccines, implied that short cuts had been taken or that safety, scientific, or ethical integrity had been compromised.
