PEORIA, Ariz. - A woman has been arrested after she reportedly killed her cousin with a hammer in their Peoria home Wednesday afternoon, police said.Officers say they visited a residence near 112th Avenue and Diana on a medical call and found the body of a 33-year-old man who had suffered "blunt force trauma."Investigators identified the suspect as 29-year-old Brianna Elise Zerth, a cousin and roommate of the victim.Court documents say the two had been drinking and got into an argument, which ended in the deadly attack.Zerth's 6-year-old daughter was home at the time but was not hurt. Officials say the girl told investigators that her mother had killed someone using a hammer.

PHILADELPHIA - Just when you thought gas prices were going down, they are going up again - way up!Gas prices in Pennsylvania and Delaware reached all-time highs again Friday, less than two months after breaking a near 14-year record.Average prices hit $4.28 in Pennsylvania and $4.22 in Delaware. BURLINGTON COUNTY, N.J. - Police say they have arrested the person responsible for a fire that took the life of a 22-year-old man in Burlington County last month.Camryn Powell was killed after a fire broke out in the apartment he shared with his father on Egbert Street on April 20.Powell was the father of a 6-month-old, family said."Life’s not fair. PHILADELPHIA - A man is in critical condition after police say he was shot multiple times through the upper body on Friday.The shooting occurred on the 3000 block of North 17th Street shortly before noon in North Philadelphia. Police say the 25-year-old victim was shot multiple times in the chest and back.

PHILADELPHIA - New details have emerged in the death and disappearance of Francis ‘Frankie’ Decero as Philadelphia police continue to investigate. Decero, 25, had been reported missing from his home on Apr. 26.

Naked Attraction contestant has appeared in court after telling police officers that she hoped they died from Covid-19 and coughed at them.Amira Nadeem, who featured on the Channel 4 show in 2019, hurled abuse at the officers when they arrived at her home in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire on November 12 in 2020.Numerous people were found in the living room including a woman, Nadeem's mum and step-dad and excessive noise and music was also heard.Prosecutor Lauren Donnelly said: "Nadeem presented at the door and immediately shouted at officers in an aggressive manner while gritting her teeth."She shouted 'F*** you, you p****s, I hope you die of Covid'."Nadeem also said: "I hope you and your family die from coronavirus."The 24-year-old, Naked Attraction's first transgender contestant, continued to shout and swear and then coughed in the direction of an officer before being arrested, the Daily Record reports.Miss Donnelly added: "She threatened to cough at an officer and thereafter deliberately coughed in their direction."Andy Iles, defending, told the court that Nadeem had undergone surgery at the time and was on medication and that the woman was her friend and had gone to "check-up" on her.Mr Iles added: "Her parents were there caring for her as she was unable to look after herself after the surgery."At a hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court on May 5, Nadeem pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.Sheriff Tony Kelly told Nadeem that she should prepare herself for custody, saying prison was "at the forefront of my mind" due to the gravity of the offence.A sentencing hearing is due to take place next month pending background reports.Nadeem, still of Rutherglen, was granted bail.This is not her first

School District of Philadelphia PHILADELPHIA - The efforts to combat gun violence in Philadelphia has reached the city’s middle schools as School District of Philadelphia officials say they’ll begin periodically screening students for weapons.Beginning Monday, May 9, 6th through 8th grade students will be subject to the periodic weapons screenings. The district says that the screenings will take place at six schools per day and be conducted at every middle school and elementary schools with middle grades. Every school will be screened at least once before the end of the school year. The district says the screenings will be conducted by school safety personnel in the presence of at least one school leader.

GLOUCESTER CITY, N.J. - Authorities in Gloucester City, New Jersey have released video of officers working to rescue a woman from a vehicle after it became submerged in the Delaware River. It all unfolded on Apr. 28 at the Freedom Pier just after 1 p.m. Police were called to the scene for a water rescue after a woman in an SUV crashed through a guardrail on the pier and into the water.

PHILADELPHIA - People in West Philadelphia are taking the next step in securing their homes and businesses - for free.The West Philadelphia Corridor Collaborative is providing free security cameras to 310 business and homeowners in high crime areas. They will also receive a three-year warranty.The first 60 applicants were chosen this week, including Angela Atiyah Havens, owner of Amatullah's Treasures at 63rd and Lansdowne."Two blocks down someone got killed more than one time, and down the block the same," Havens said.Some cameras were installed today as part of the free program.

Kevin Vest, 22 NEW CASTLE, Del. - A man and woman have been arrested after police say they committed several car thefts last month.Police say Kevin Vest, 22, and Tiffany Casapulla, 28, have both been identified as suspects in three separate vehicle thefts in New Castle.Tiffany Casapulla, 28 On April 9, police say Vest stole a 2007 Honda Accord from a Wawa parking lot on the 1400 block of Beaver Brook. Vest and Casapulla then allegedly sold the Accord to a business with a forged title.A 2007 Volvo S40 was stolen from the same Wawa just days later on April 13.

PHILADELPHIA - As Mother's Day approaches, local families impacted by gun violence marched in Philadelphia to call for peace and change within communities.The march was organized by Mothers In Charge, a non-profit group that consists of mothers, grandmothers, sisters and aunts who have lost loved ones to violence. Wallace Battle-Scott participated in the march on behalf of her 19-year-old son, who was gunned down last fall inside a car she helped him buy to commute to college."You’ve got to put the guns down they are destroying our lives," Battle-Scott said. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESMothers In Charge labeled Thursday's march "Sons, Put Down Your Guns" and drew additional support from local anti-crime community organizations. PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man is facing murder charges after authorities say he claimed to have accidentally shot the driver of a car his was riding in last weekend. Marcus Moore, 34, was arrested Wednesday and charged with homicide in the shooting death of Maurice Jones early Sunday morning. According to investigators, Moore and two others were inside a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Morris when he was shot on I-95 near Columbus Boulevard. Police said Moore drove the Jeep to the emergency room at Jefferson Hospital and left in the car by the time officers arrived. Morris was later pronounced dead.Police later found the Jeep abandoned near the intersection of Front Street and Washington Avenue.

PHILADELPHIA - A teenage boy and girl were injured in a broad daylight shooting Thursday in North Philadelphia, according to police. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 1000 block of Seybert Mall around noon for reports of gunfire. Investigators said a boy and girl, both 17-years-old, suffered gunshot wounds to the right leg.

SEATTLE - Seattle Police have arrested a burglary suspect after they say he shot himself in the head while trying to run away from the scene of a break-in in a north Seattle neighborhood. A man told police he heard sounds coming from his garage around 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

PHILADELPHIA - Officials on Wednesday made their final stop on a two-month listening tour in troubled Philadelphia communities where concerned residents connected with law enforcement leaders on ways to quell violence. The Community Listening Tour initiative was spearheaded by the Office of Policy and Strategic Initiatives for Criminal Justice & Public Safety. PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man is facing federal charges for allegedly shooting a SWAT officer who was executing an arrest warrant at a Fairhill apartment building last February. United States Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams on Wednesday said 35-year-old Kristian Reyes was wanted by authorities for state probation and parole violations. Members of the Philadelphia Police Department's SWAT team went to arrest Reyes at a property on the 100 block of West Lehigh Avenue on Feb. 11, but they did not receive a response after announcing their presence, according to investigators. Officers breached the door and headed up a narrow stairwell to a third-floor apartment and knocked where they again announced their presence but received no response. A Philadelphia police SWAT officer was treated and released at a local hospital after police say he was shot in his bulletproof vest in North Philadelphia while serving a warrant.While waiting for equipment to gain access to the apartment, investigators say the leader of the SWAT team heard multiple popping sounds and realized he was shot in the vest. The officer was rushed to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

PHILADELPHIA - A 14-year-old is in the hospital after being shot in West Oak Lane early Wednesday morning. According to police, the incident happened at a private residence 1900 block of Georgian Road just before 3:30 a.m. Chief Inspector Scott Small says police and paramedics arrived at the residence they received no response at the door and the doors were locked. Police found an open window on the first floor and entered the residence, Small says. According to authorities, blood was found. "There was blood throughout the house on all three floors," Small says.  A relative, believed to be the teen's uncle, living in the home told police there were juveniles, including the 14-year-old, in the home, but they did not know where they were. Police say they then learned a 14-year-old shooting victim had been driven to Elkins Park Hospital by his mother. The teen was shot once in his leg and is in stable condition, Small says. According to law enforcement, the teen told police he was walking home and made eye contact with a man who then fired one shot, hitting him in the leg.

PHILADELPHIA - SEPTA safety took center stage at Tuesday's budget meeting with Philadelphia City Council, as officials try to rebuild the public's confidence in the sixth-largest transit system in the country. The meeting comes a week after SEPTA officials arrested a man for allegedly raping a woman on a SEPTA train. It's the latest in a series of violent horror stories that have unfolded on SEPTA property that General Manager Leslie Richards admitted is impacting ridership. At the same time, Richards said that violent crime on SEPTA property is down compared to the first quarter of 2021.

UPPER DARBY, Pa. - Upper Darby police are reporting a bear sighting in the wooded areas of Lansdowne Borough and Clifton Heights. Officers are patrolling the area, and they say that the Pennsylvania Game Commission has been notified of the bear. Police are advising anyone who sees the bear to not approach it, stay calm, and call 911. Advertisement
