Greenland is delaying its Sept. 25 release amid the ongoing challenges facing the domestic box office due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including continued cinema closures in Los Angeles and New York City.
Instead, the apocalyptic disaster-adventure pic will be released sometime in the fourth quarter, STXfilms said Monday. Greenland stars Butler as John Garrity, whose family must fight for survival as a planet-killing comet races to earth.
He and his estranged wife, along with their young son, embark on a monumental trek that culminates in a desperate and last-minute flight to a possible safe haven.
