A number of gardaí and members of the public are restricting their movements after a senior Garda officer who attended an event earlier today subsequently tested positive for Covid-19.
A number of others, who were also at the event, are now awaiting to see if they are to be contacted by the HSE and told to restrict their movements.
It is understood the officer was awaiting a Covid-19 test when he attended the event. The current guidelines state that a person must continue to self-isolate while awaiting test results.
Earlier this month, the Garda Commissioner Drew Harris had to restrict his movements following contact with a garda officer who subsequently tested positive for Covid-19.
