  PHOENIX - Eight people were rescued from Camelback Mountain after multiple members of their hiking group began suffering from heat-related illness Thursday afternoon, Phoenix fire officials said.A women's church group had reportedly started hiking Echo Canyon Trail earlier in the morning for a retreat. Fire officials say the group consisted of women from Alabama, Tennessee, and California, and that they were filming for a documentary called "Bad Girls Gone God," where they embark on strenuous activities to get closer to God.The hikers reportedly told fire crews that they did not do their research before starting the hike at 7 a.m. Several of the hikers were wheeled down the trail, and two had to be brought down by helicopter.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento fire crews used about 4,500 gallons of water to fully extinguish a Tesla that kept re-igniting and then ended up submerging the high-tech car into a makeshift pond to fully quell the blaze. The white Tesla was fully involved with fire when the fire crew arrived at the scene earlier this week, according to the fire district's Facebook post. The car was parked in a wrecking yard for dismantling after it was greatly damaged from an accident in early June. It "took a significant amount of time, water, and thinking outside the box to extinguish," fire crew said. Firefighters knocked the fire down, but the car kept re-igniting in the battery compartment. SEE ALSO: San Mateo County fire nearly contained, but power not fully restoredFire officials moved the car on its side to gain access. "Even with direct penetration, the vehicle would still re-ignite due to the residual heat," officials said. In the end, the crew and the wrecking yard staff successfully created a small pit filled with water and submerged the battery compartment into the water. No injuries were reported. Teslas and other electric vehicles have been known to have issues with fires, especially with the batteries. It can be difficult to put flames out because the vehicles' lithium-ion batteries keep burning until all the energy is released. It can take as long as 24 hours to put out, according to a guide for first responders for the Tesla Model S. This story was reported from Oakland, Calif. Fire crew moved to the Tesla on its side to gain access to the battery compartment, officials said.

PHILADELPHIA - An arrest warrant has been issued for a woman caught on surveillance video shooting a man at close range in Kensington, a source says. Police say the woman, who they have now identified, shot a man on E. Wishart Street in Kensington on June 6 around 2:43 a.m. According to authorities, SEPTA police officers were in the area when they heard a gunshot and they found a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen on the 1800 block of E.

PHILADELPHIA - An energy company says its plan to build a multi-billion dollar liquid natural gas facility on the banks of the Delaware River would be a boon for the local economy, but some have stressed environmental concerns.Penn-America Energy is mulling several spots between South Philadelphia and Marcus Hook for its hundred-acre facility natural gas liquefaction facility and export terminal, which would be the largest on the east coast. Penn-America Energy CEO Frac James told FOX 29 that the estimated $7 billion facility would create 4,000 new jobs. The facility would produce 7M tons of liquid natural a year to be exported overseas. "This enables Pennsylvania and the region's specifically southeastern Pennsylvania to have a role in the decarbonization of our planet," James said.Some residents in Chester, where developers are considering the old Ford plant, have some hesitations about the environmental impact and safety concerns. "We want the type of companies that other communities compete for," Zulene Mayfield said.

PHILADELPHIA - A stretch of the Schuylkill Expressway closed Wednesday evening as authorities investigated a shooting on the busy highway. PennDOT said a white Toyota Prius came under on the eastbound side of the highway around 7 p.m. No one was hit and no injuries were reported, according to the transportation authority. Traffic cameras captured the Prius pulled over with a Pennsylvania State Trooper parked close by. The eastbound side of the Schuylkill Expressway between the Lincoln/Kelly Drive exit and Girard Avenue remains closed. Redirected volume near the Schuylkill Expressway is also causing major delays.
