The Welsh Parliament has launched a probe into whether four politicians' late-night drinks broke Covid rules. Three Conservatives and one Labour Assembly Member have apologised after the gathering last month at the Senedd in Cardiff.

The politicians were meeting to discuss Labour member Alun Davies' plan for a Welsh Hearts Bill to boost defibrillators in rural areas.

ITV News reported the gathering took place on December 8 - four days after Wales’ government banned pubs and restaurants from serving alcohol after 6pm.

A source told the Mirror alcohol was consumed at the meeting in the Tŷ Hywel building, attached to the Senedd complex, and it went on until around midnight.
