COLOMBO (News 1st); 4 people who were on a weekend outing have drowned while swimming for recreation in the Gerandi Ella Falls in Bandarawela on Saturday (29).One other woman who was part of the group continues to remain missing, said local authorities.The deceased are between the ages of 20 & 21, said Police.According to reports, they were caught off guard by a strong current. .

GOLDEN, Colo - A rare sighting was up near the mountains in Colorado this weekend — hundreds upon hundreds of golden retrievers. The city of Golden hosted its annual Goldens in Golden event on Saturday, inviting golden retrievers and their human parents for a massive celebration. The annual event, which is said to celebrate "these popular pooches with lots of fun, fanfare, fluff and photo ops," took a break during the pandemic and came back in full swing this year. Event organizers told Denver’s CBS4 they estimated more than 2,000 golden retrievers attended, which may even be an unofficial record for the largest gathering. Golden is an old mining town that sits in the foothills of the Rock Mountains about 20 miles west of Denver. It houses the Colorado School of Mines, Coors Brewery and an arching ‘Welcome to Golden’ sign, which is where hundreds of pups gathered and posed Saturday for a photo. Local businesses reportedly got in on the fun, too, and offered "hot dogs" and pupcakes.

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lanka Life Saving states that in the event of drowning, the first step that one must adhere to is to scream for assistance. Noting that deaths due to drowning, especially at remote rural areas has increased, the President of Sri Lanka Life Saving, Asanka Nanayakkara stated that caution must be exercised at all times, and to not to go swimming in remote areas, especially places that are advertised on social media. He further said that one must grab onto something or even throw something when they are drowning, and anyone who is on the shore MUST NOT jump in after them, in order to reduce the number of persons to be rescued. Moreover, he added that the first step that should be taken after rescuing the drowning person is to administer CPR to them, and afterwards to take them to the hospital, in an emergency vehicle. DO NOT simply go and jump into water bodies that are remote and are located without any warning of their safety level, he emphasized.
