'Mom I hope I didn't kill nobody': Mother of suspect in deadly Springfield road rage shooting charged
SPRINGFIELD, Pa. - The mother of a man arrested for a deadly road rage shooting in Springfield is now being charged in connection with the case. According to Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, Amanda Washington was charged with hindering prosecution in the case relating to the death of 54-year-old King Hua. On June 29, Hua and his wife were driving south on State Road in the curb lane when Amanda Washington passed them on the shoulder in her dark blue Chevrolet Equinox, authorities say. Washington's son, 22-year-old Saddiq Washington, was in the passenger seat of the car and fired the fatal shots that killed Hua, according to police. Springfield Township's Chief Daly said "The suspect's vehicle pulls on to the shoulder of the road, got ahead of the victim's vehicle, got out of the vehicle, fired two shots at the vehicle which permeated the window, killing the operator." After the shooting, Amanda Washington and her son fled southbound at a high rate of speed, according to investigators. Police say surveillance video showing Washington's car and license plate coupled with witness testimony helped lead investigators to the suspects. Once officers arrived at the Darby address listed on the car's registration, they saw the vehicle in the driveway and began surveilling the house while waiting for a warrant, per authorities. According to police, Washington and two other females were seen leaving the Darby home and getting into the Chevrolet Equinox around 5 a.m.

OAKLAND, Calif. - The family and friends of the three immigrant men who drowned while rescuing a boy from the delta in Sacramento are hoping to send their bodies back to their native Guatemala.Wendy Rivas of Oakland started a GoFundMe for her father Edwin "Guistillo" Rivas, 57, and his friends, Edwin Perez, 22, and Danilo Gutiérrez, 40. All of them lived in Oakland, working jobs in construction. Friend William Ramos told KTVU that the men and other families vacationed together near Brannan Island every Fourth of July for camping and family fun. The trio had been fishing Sunday near the Three Mile Slough Bridge in Sacramento County, when they saw an 8-year-old who was with their group struggling in the water. They and two others jumped into the river and pulled the boy to safety, officials said. The boy had been wading into the water and got pulled away, and he wasn't wearing a life jacket. 3 men drown in Sacramento river after pulling an 8-year-old child out of the water. But only two men were able to get out of the water. Rivas, Perez and Gutiérrez never surfaced. Their bodies were recovered from the delta on Tuesday evening, according to the Rio Vista Fire Department. Their friend, Juan Cabrera, told KCRA3 all of them had tried to save the boy, but the strong winds and current were too much in the Sacramento San Joaquin River Delta system."Far too many lives have been lost in our waterways and in the lakes and rivers of Northern California over the past few weeks," the Rio Vista Fire Department said.

Visitors skeptical about visiting Philly in the wake of increasing gun violence
PHILADELPHIA - After the Fourth of July shooting on the parkway, city officials said that they will not scale back events in the city, but instead, will focus on increasing security. Now, many people are questioning whether increased security is enough to keep visitors coming to the city and safe while they’re here. Jamal Johnson, founder of "STOP Killing US," protests daily around Philadelphia, specifically at the places where shootings and murders occur, but on the days leading up to the Fourth of July, he changed his message. "We held up posters with the public service announcement that visiting Philadelphia may be hazardous to your safety due to the increase in gun violence," he said. FOX 29’s Shawnette Wilson went over the bridge to chat with Collingswood residents to see how people in the suburbs feel about visiting the city. "If there’s a whole bunch of stuff going on in Philly, why would I go if there’s a chance of danger?" said Imani Delgado.MORE HEADLINES Police: Man killed in West Oak Lane after being shot, then crashing his carSuspect arrested in Philadelphia bar shooting that killed innocent woman, police sayGermantown double shooting kills 1 man, critically injures a second man, police sayOn the other hand, some Collingswood residents say Philadelphia’s restaurants, theaters, and other arts are the reason they will continue visiting the City of Brotherly Love.Russ and Mary Jackson say they enjoy coming to the city, but they avoid coming here when there are big events, like the July 4th parade and fireworks show. "When you get into your mid-80s, you don’t want to get knocked over," Russ Jackson said.
