PHILADELPHIA - Authorities are investigating after motorists reported being pelted with rocks and other debris while driving down a Philadelphia highway on Tuesday night. A driver who asked to remain anonymous told FOX 29 that he was driving on I-76 eastbound near the Passyunk and Oregon Avenue exit around 7 p.m. when his car was struck by a large rock. He described the sound of the rock shattering his windshield as an "explosion" that sent glass fragments scattered across the inside of his brand-new car. "When the car got his I thought I got shot, the car got shot, that's how much of an explosion it was," he said. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe unnamed driver pulled his vehicle to the side of the road where several other cars had stopped after also being struck by thrown debris."There was a guy about 5-10 cars up from me that said a rock had gone through the windshield and struck a woman in the face that she needed emergency services," he said. Another driver who was in the shoulder of the highway claimed that her car was struck by a fire extinguisher, according to the anonymous driver. Officers from the Delaware River Port Authority said one person was throwing debris from the CSX Railroad overpass, but they ran away before police arrived. Dozens of cars were damaged when police say someone hurled rocks and other debris onto a busy Philadelphia highway.

COLOMBO (News 1st); A decision taken to debate the Social Security Contribution Levy Bill next Thursday (08).Although the Social Security Contribution Levy Bill was supposed to be passed without a debate in Parliament yesterday (06), it was decided to hold the said debate on the coming Thursday as Members of Parliament indicated that a debate was necessary. This decision was arrived at because the leader of the Jathika Janabalawegaya Hon. Anura Dissanayaka and Member of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (Dr.) Harsha de Silva requested the Speaker to take it into debate given that amendments have been submitted for the said Bill. The newly introduced Social Security Contribution Tax Bill is a way of putting the economic burden on the people, National People’s Power Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.The said the levy practically covers the entire economic system in the country, Dissanayake noted.Accordingly, the adjournment debate on the Mid-year fiscal position report for the year 2022, which was scheduled to be held next Thursday, will be held on a later day.The Committee on Parliamentary Business held previously decided to pass the Social Security Contribution Levy Bill yesterday (06) without debate in Parliament.Budget 2022 introduced the Social Security Contribution Levy Bill as a measure to raise government revenue and rebuild the economy hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. This tax is levied at the rate of 2.5 percent upon the annual turnover is Rs.
