WASHINGTON - Two men are behind bars after the FBI raided an apartment complex in Southeast D.C. Wednesday afternoon.
FOX 5 has learned they're facing charges for impersonating members of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). According to court documents, 40-year-old Arian Taherzadeh and 36-year-old Haider Ali have spent more than two years pretending to be officers or employees of the Federal Government.
The FBI was tipped off after a U.S. Postal Service inspector interviewed the pair as potential witnesses to an unrelated assault, just weeks ago, in the same building where they live.Federal prosecutors allege the men presented themselves as law enforcement including to the DHS, the court docs show.
Taherzadeh allegedly shared photos of himself in tactical gear with witnesses to bolster his claim that he worked for DHS. The FBI was at a Navy Yard apartment building called the Crossing on First Street in Southeast earlier today carrying boxes.
