The family of a Co Meath man with Stage 4 brain cancer have appealed to the Australian ambassador to Ireland to help them get into Australia to see him.
Speaking on RTÉ's Claire Byrne Live programme, Shane McGeough's mother Cathy and cousin Serena Gavin said red tape over Covid-19 is preventing them from flying to Australia to see him.
Mr McGeough, 38, has been living in Australia for the last ten years with his partner Michelle. His mother told how her "world fell apart" when she received the news of Shane’s illness, but said she has had great support.
His cousin Serena explained that Shane initially had problems with his breathing, before his speech became slurred. Medical investigations led to the discovery of a brain tumour.
