Fully vaccinated people will begin receiving their EU Digital Covid Certificates from today. One million certs issued via email will be sent to people who were vaccinated via the Health Service Executive portal, while another million will be posted to those who were vaccinated in other settings, such as at their GP, and should arrive by the end of this week.

The certificates have a QR code which contains encrypted data on a person's vaccination status obtained from the HSE. Those who have recovered from Covid-19 in the past six months can apply for a Certificate of Recovery from a dedicated helpline, which Minister of State Ossian Smith said he hopes will be operational by 19 July.

Police: Gunman opens fire on officer during shootout in Germantown, no injuries reported

PHILADELPHIA - No one was injured after a gunman opened fire on a Philadelphia police officer during a shootout Wednesday afternoon in Germantown.Philadelphia Police Sergeant Eric Gripp told reporters that two plainclothes officers in an unmarked car were patrolling the 4800 block of Keyser Street around 2 p.m. when they came upon a shootout between a 23-year-old and a 20-year-old. The officer in the passenger's seat identified himself as police and ordered both men to drop their weapons when one of the men fired towards the officer, Gripp said.
