An Ebola drug shown to work against coronavirus could cost up to $4,500 per treatment, experts have warned. Remdesivir - manufactured by California-based Gilead Sciences, proved successful in cutting Covid-19 patients' time in hospital in a National Institutes of Health trial.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday gave emergency use authorisation for patients with severe cases of the disease caused by the coronavirus.
This cleared the way for broader use in more hospitals around the United States. However, a report by the Institute for Economical and Clinical Review claims the drug will cost about $9.32 for a 10-day course.
