NORTH PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting of a 17-year-old and how he may have been connected to an attempted stolen vehicle.According to Captain John Walker, a 19-year-old man stopped at a convenience store Wednesday evening, around 8:20, on 5th and Diamond in North Philadelphia.The man got out and went inside the store, leaving the car he was driving, a Nissan Pathfinder, running outside the store.Two people inside a Chevrolet Impala circled the block, seeing the car outside the store running, according to Walker.

WILMINGTON, Del. - Wilmington police are investigating a shooting that critically injured an 18-year-old and a 12-year-old.According to officials, police were called to 24th and Tatnall Streets Friday, around 3:45 in the afternoon, on the report of a shooting.Officers found an 18-year-old male and a 12-year-old male at a local hospital, listed in critical condition.Responding officers found another 18-year-old male with non-life threatening gunshot wounds, at the scene. He was taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition.Police are investigating a possible motive into the gunfire.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia woman is facing charges in a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a 21-year-old woman, authorities say. Quadera Parrish, 25, turned herself into police on Friday with her attorney and was charged with several crimes including homicide by vehicle. It's alleged that Parrish was behind the wheel of a gray Tesla that struck and killed 21-year-old Dia Lee on Germantown Avenue last Monday. Police shared photos of the wanted vehicle hours after the fatal crash and urged anyone with information to reach out to the Philadelphia Police Department.Dia Lee, 21, was crossing Germantown Avenue on Culter Street around 7 p.m. when police say a speeding Tesla struck her and kept driving.

OGONTZ - Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting that injured a 19-year-old man.Officials say police responded to the 6100 block of Old York Road Friday afternoon, just before 4:45, on the report of gunfire.Police arrived to find a 19-year-old man shot multiple times.The man was rushed by medics to Einstein Medical Center where he was placed in stable condition.Police say an investigation into a possible motive is ongoing.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is grieving the loss of one of their own after an off-duty officer was killed in a crash in Somerton on Thursday. Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small says just before midnight, officers in the 7th District received numerous calls about a crash at the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Rennard Street. According to authorities, when officers and medics arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved in the crash. A Philadelphia police officer was killed in a crash while on his way home from work, authorities say. FOX 29's Steve Keeley has the latest.A 50-year-old man driving a Hyundai was transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, authorities say. The vehicle that struck the officer's car was a BMW with an 18-year-old driver and two teenage passengers, police say. None of the individuals in the BMW were injured and they denied medical treatment, according to officials. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESInvestigators say the Hyundai was traveling west on Rennard Street crossing Bustelon Avenue as the BMW was going south on Bustleton Avenue. The BMW struck the passenger side of the Hyundai, jumped the curb and then struck a tree, per authorities. Police say a witness spoke to accident investigators and say the BMW was traveling at a high rate of speed. Small says through the investigation,  police learned the driver of the Hyundai was an active Philadelphia police officer who had just finished the night shift and was driving home in his personal vehicle. The officer was a 27-year veteran with the Philadelphia Police Department, according to Small. "It's a real tragedy," Small said.

PHILADELPHIA - A pair of dognappers stormed into a Philadelphia man's home and stole his French bulldog puppy that he recently got for his daughter. Kevin Long told FOX 29 that he brought the dog named Chaos home less than a week ago to give to his 11-year-old daughter. On Wednesday night police say two men, one armed with a gun, forced their way into Long's home on the 4800 block of Darrah Street and demanded the dog. Chaos, a French bulldog, was stolen from a Philadelphia home Wednesday night. According to police the suspects knocked on Long's door and asked for someone who doesn't live there.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say two men were killed in a quadruple shooting Thursday night in Philadelphia's Point Breeze section. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 1200 block of South Bucknell Street just after 9 p.m. for reports of gunfire. A 36-year-old man was shot over a dozen times and pronounced dead, according to authorities.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man was sentenced to nine-years in prison for illegally possessing a loaded gun inside a ransacked store during the civil unrest in 2020. Federal prosecutors say 24-year-old Mashaq White was found by police inside a trashed Rite-Aid at 57th and Chestnut street in West Philadelphia on June 1. According to investigators, White had a firearm loaded with 18 rounds of ammunition. Officers who responded to the store for reports of a burglary saw White and another person drilling into an ATM towards the front of the store, according to prosecutors. White pleaded guilty to a one-count indictment of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon last October. United States Attorney Jacqueline C.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (FOX 2) - A Jeep dealership in Rochester Hills has agreed to a settlement with the family of a mechanic who was killed on the job in March 2020 after the victim's family sued the owner of the car.Attorney David Femminineo told FOX 2 that the dealership, Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep Dodge, and the family of Jeffrey Hawkins agreed to an undisclosed settlement after he was killed on March 13, 2020, when the owner of a Jeep brought his car in for an oil change. What happened was the dealership indemnified - took responsibility for - the legal responsibility of the Jeep owner.

Detectives are appealing for a missing man in his 50s who has not been seen for more than 24 hours. The man is from north Manchester, but was reported missing from a mental health hospital.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, who chaired a high-level COVID review meeting on Thursday, directed state governments to focus on districts reporting high case positivity and undertake adequate testing with a higher proportion of RTPCR tests. The meeting was called owing to the sudden spike in COVID-19 cases.  He further instructed the officials to continue to focus on surveillance and on Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) to scan for any possible mutation along with increasing the pace of vaccination.  The meeting was attended by the core team of experts including Dr Randip Guleria, ICMR Director-General Dr Balram Bhargava and NCDC director Sujeet Singh.

PHILADELPHIA - An arrest warrant has been issued for a woman caught on surveillance video shooting a man at close range in Kensington, a source says. Police say the woman, who they have now identified, shot a man on E. Wishart Street in Kensington on June 6 around 2:43 a.m. According to authorities, SEPTA police officers were in the area when they heard a gunshot and they found a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen on the 1800 block of E.

(Family Photo)PHILADELPHIA - Two suspects wanted in connection with the shooting death of 15-year-old Sean Toomey are in police custody, according to a law enforcement source. The teenager was struck once in the head by gunfire in March while he was unloading groceries from his father's car on the 6200 block of Mulberry Street in Wissinoming, authorities say. Police say he was taken to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital where he died the next day. At the time of the shooting, sources reported that investigators believed the teen was shot in an attempted carjacking. RELATED HEADLINESPolice have released photos of two suspects wanted in connection with the murder of Sean Toomey.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that killed a teenager and injured another person in West Philadelphia. According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, the incident happened just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday night. Officers with the 16th District and fire department paramedics received multiple 911 calls for a report of a car crash on the 800 block of N 44th Street, authorities say. Small says first responders found a 16-year-old severely injured and a 20-year-old with injuries on the sidewalk. The 16-year-old was taken to a local hospital, but he did not survive, according to police. Authorities say the 20-year-old was taken to the hospital and placed in stable condition with a possible broken leg. Investigators say a 27-year-old was driving a Toyota Highlander that crashed into the two pedestrians. Small says the driver has cuts and bruises and is suspected to be impaired.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say 40 shots were fired Wednesday night in a triple shooting that erupted between at least two shooters. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 4200 block of Lancaster Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting. Police found a 36-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man both shot in the leg.

ATLANTA - The Georgia Supreme Court has reversed the conviction of a man whose toddler son died after he left him in a hot car for hours.Wednesday, Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice David E. Nahmias reversed the conviction of 41-year-old Justin Ross Harris for the charges of malice murder and first-degree child cruelty for the death of his 22-month-old son, Cooper.Harris was convicted in November 2016 on eight counts connected to the death of his son.

PHILADELPHIA - Two brothers were charged in a Philadelphia street shooting that prosecutors say erupted between two gunmen who were legally licensed to carry. Zimair Bundy and Hymid Bundy each face several charges including aggravated assault and weapons offenses, the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday. Investigators believe an argument between Zimair and another person last Tuesday afternoon on the 1400 block of 54th Street erupted into gunfire. Zimair is alleged to have fired at the combatant, striking him once in the shoulder. Investigators say Hymid was shot in the back when he pointed his gun at the unnamed shooter. Both Zamir and the other shooter were legally licensed to carry at the time of the shooting, according to the district attorney's office.Prosecutors say the brazen shootout was captured on video and ballistic evidence was collected.

PHILADELPHIA - A stretch of the Schuylkill Expressway closed Wednesday evening as authorities investigated a shooting on the busy highway. PennDOT said a white Toyota Prius came under on the eastbound side of the highway around 7 p.m. No one was hit and no injuries were reported, according to the transportation authority. Traffic cameras captured the Prius pulled over with a Pennsylvania State Trooper parked close by. The eastbound side of the Schuylkill Expressway between the Lincoln/Kelly Drive exit and Girard Avenue remains closed. Redirected volume near the Schuylkill Expressway is also causing major delays.

(FOX 11) LOS ANGELES - A woman and her two dogs were killed Wednesday by an apparent lightning strike in Southern California, authorities confirmed to FOX 11.Video from SkyFOX showed a large police presence near Mines and Rimbank avenues in Pico Rivera, which is approximately 11 miles southeast of Los Angeles.Pico Rivera city manager Steve Carmona told FOX 11 that the woman was walking with her two dogs on the San Gabriel River bike path when it appeared that all three were struck by lightning and killed.The strike caused an indentation on the pavement.To keep residents safe, the city has shut down all outdoor activities.(FOX 11) "We canceled our farmer's market and also some of our summer camps for our kids that are playing outside just as a precaution," Carmona said.He advised residents, "Be cautious, be careful.

PHILADELPHIA - Police have released a new video showing the moment a suspect gunned down a 76-year-old man who was out on his morning walk Tuesday.Loi Nguyen, 76, was found shot once in the head near his driveway in the alleyway behind L and Claridge streets just before 6 a.m. Police say surveillance video shows the Nguyen walking with his hands seemingly in his pockets when he is approached from behind by a suspect in a red hoodie and sneakers. The suspect can be seen running up behind Nguyen, and at some point shooting him.MORE HEADLINES:The suspect then flees down the alley, leaving the Nguyen on the ground.

PHILADELPHIA - An 18-year-old who was critically injured in a gunfight over the weekend will be facing charges in the incident, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office announced on Wednesday. Khyseem Pratt, 18, was found lying in an alleyway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night in West Philadelphia. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where police said he had originally been listed in extremely critical condition. After further investigation, authorities say they learned from surveillance video that Pratt had been involved in a gunfight with several other people when he was shot. RELATED: More than 30 shots fired in West Philadelphia gunfight, teen gunman extremely critical, police sayThe District Attorney’s Office revealed Monday that Pratt – who was armed with an AR-15- and two other armed males appeared to be sneaking up on someone when gunfire erupted.

PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department are looking into a case involving a woman who was reportedly lit on fire in Kensington. According to Chief Inspector Frank Vanore, police were made aware of the incident over the weekend. Authorities say they received a video and sent investigators to search for answers. According to Vanore, police believe the victim, an unidentified woman, was in a park with a man on the 1800 block of E Tioga when they got into an argument with another woman. Police say witnesses reported that the woman poured a liquid on the victim and the man before lighting it on fire. The man, who catches fire, runs from the scene, according to police.

PHILADELPHIA - A New York man who was captured on Ring doorbell camera violently punching three women on a sidewalk in Philadelphia will now face charges, according to authorities. The Philadelphia District Attorney tells FOX 29's Steve Keeley that Malcolm White, 36, will face charges connected to the attack. According to police, the attack happened on the 2900 block of Morris Street around 11 p.m. on June 15. Authorities say as White walked beside a group of three women, he punched one of them in the face and punched the others as they intervened. Authorities are searching for a man captured on doorbell camera attacking three women who were walking down a Philadelphia street.The attack left one woman with a broken nose and two other women with swelling and facial lacerations. PREVIOUS: Police: Man arrested in Montgomery County may be linked to Philadelphia attacks on womenAbout 20 minutes later, White allegedly knocked a woman in her 30s unconscious while sitting outside a property on the 1900 block of South 13th Street. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESWhite is also a suspect in a violent carjacking case out of Montgomery County and a sexual assault in Philadelphia, officials say. He was arrested last Thursday in Whitpain Township after police say a woman was pulled from her car by her hair and punched in the face in the parking lot of Henkels and McCoy on Jolly Road where the victim worked. The victim told police her attacker choked her, causing her to lose consciousness, according to an affidavit.

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. - The man who was fired for mistakenly selling gas at 69 cents a gallon in Rancho Cordova said the company is declining thousands of dollars raised to repay for the error. John Szczecina, the ex-manager who was fired for the gaffe, told KCRA that the GoFundMe was created to repay the station for around $16,000 lost during the mixup that lasted a little under three hours. The fundraiser, which has since been closed, has raised more than $24,000 so far."I’ve just been awestruck, I’m still in shock, you know. It just makes me feel like there’s good in this world and it’s worth fighting for," Szczecina told KCRA. GoFundMe told KCRA that if the gas station declines the money, the funds will be returned to donors. While the mix-up cost Szczecina his job, others couldn't help but rejoice and rush to the station before the gas prices went back to normal."I was just excited.

PHILADELPHIA - A judge ruled Tuesday that two men will go on trial for murder after a fight at Pat's King of Steaks last year killed a 28-year-old man.Omar Arce, 33, and Jose Alberto Flores-Huerta, 34, were arrested in September 2021 after they were caught on surveillance video outside the iconic South Philadelphia cheesesteak shop.Police say the brawl erupted between two groups after the Philadelphia Union soccer game against Club America at Subaru Stadium in Chester. Isidro Cortez, 28, died after video showed him being pummeled with kicks and punches and beaten with a metal trash can lid.  His 64-year-old father and a friend were also hurt.Police say Arce and Flores-Huerta were one of four men sought for the deadly brawl.

PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department are looking to identify and find a woman caught on camera shooting a man in Kensington. According to police, the incident happened on June 6 at 2:43 a.m. in the area of Wishart Street and Kensington Avenue. Authorities say SEPTA police officers dispersing a large crowd in the area heard a gunshot. Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen on the 1800 block of E.

PHILADELPHIA - An investigation is underway after a man died after being shot in South Philadelphia, according to police. Captain John Walker with the Philadelphia Police Department says the shooting took place on Tuesday night around 11:45 p.m. He says officers with the 3rd District responded to a shooting on 4th and Oregon in the South Philadelphia area. According to authorities, officers found a man with a gunshot wound in his neck in a rented SUV. Medics arrived on scene and rushed the man to Jefferson Hospital where he was first placed in critical condition but later died, officials say. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESInvestigators say they learned the SUV was driving on Ritner Street when at least 12 shots were fired at the passenger side of the vehicle. According to police, investigators are still working to learn if the victim was a driver or passenger. Authorities say there are currently no witnesses but they are urging anyone with information to contact police. 

KABUL, Afghanistan - A powerful earthquake struck a rural, mountainous region of eastern Afghanistan early Wednesday, killing at least 920 people and injuring 600 others in the deadliest temblor in two decades, authorities said. Officials warned that the already grim toll would likely rise.Information remained scarce on the magnitude 6.1 temblor near the Pakistani border, but quakes of that strength would be expected to cause severe damage in the remote area, where homes and other buildings are poorly constructed and landslides are common.Rescue efforts are likely to be complicated since many international aid agencies left Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover of the country last year and the chaotic withdrawal of the U.S.
