PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a fatal stabbing in South Philadelphia, authorities say. According to officials, 1st District officers responded to the 2300 block of South 20th Street around 12:27 a.m. responding to a report of a stabbing in a private residence. When police and medics arrived on scene and entered the property, they found an unresponsive 64-year-old woman laying on her back in the hallway on the second floor, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small. Authorities say she was bleeding from a large laceration in her neck. "She was clearly stabbed several times in her neck," Small said. Medics pronounced the woman dead in the residence at 12:51 a.m., officials say. Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a woman in South Philadelphia.

LAS VEGAS - New details were released Thursday on the DUI arrest of former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch from earlier this week in Las Vegas. On Aug. 9 before 7:30 a.m, an officer was conducting a vehicle stop on a car for a man asleep behind the wheel.According to a police report, the car had significant damage, with no rim or tire on the driver’s side front wheel, with dents and dings on the rear driver’s side wheel that about to fall off and the front passenger rim and tire that was almost off. The officer noticed the car was not running but the car had a push button to start and the keys were with the driver. The driver, who was later identified as Lynch, was asleep behind the wheel with the driver’s door open and leaning back in the seat, documents said. Investigators noted Lynch would speak and fell in and out of sleep several times throughout the encounter. According to the police report, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the car and Lynch, his eyes were bloodshot and watery, and he had one shoe on.  Lynch told the officer that he was "not drinking and he does not do drugs, but that he stole the vehicle," documents said. The report said the responding officer asked Lynch if he would exit the car, he refused and became uncooperative.

PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department's Shooting Investigation Group are working to identify a shooter who fired shots at a person while on a basketball court in Kensington. According to police, the shooting happened on the 400 block of E Ontario Street around 8:36 p.m.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Authorities worked Thursday to determine the cause of a house explosion in a southern Indiana neighborhood that killed three people and left another person hospitalized.The explosion Wednesday afternoon in Evansville damaged 39 homes and crews had not yet completed thorough searches of all of them due to instability of the structures, Fire Chief Mike Connelly told reporters Thursday morning.Eleven of the damaged homes were uninhabitable and will have to be demolished, Connelly said, and finding a cause is expected to be a "very tedious process — and lengthy."Names of the dead hadn't been released as of Thursday morning. PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia police officer has been placed arrested and charged for threatening and assaulting his former partner, who is the mother of his four children. According to the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, Ramon Chaulisant, 33, was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, theft, possession of an instrument of crime, harassment, and related charges. Chaulisant has also been placed on administrative duty and his service weapon was confiscated by authorities, the DA's Office says. According to police, in February, Chausilant allegedly struck his former partner in the face and body at her home while he was visiting his children. The officer is accused of forcing the woman down a set of stairs and kicking her front door, doing damage to the door frame. Months later, in April, Chaulisant called police to his home to make a report against his former partner, who was trying to pick up their children, law enforcement says. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESOfficials say he also told responding officers that they would find his former partner "face down."On August 1, Chaulisant allegedly broke dishes during a verbal fight with the woman at her home before threatening to kill her, breaking her car window with a free weight and stealing her laptop and iPhone,  according to the DA's Office. Authorities say the couple's four children were present at during all of the incidents. "I want to thank PPD Internal Affairs and my office's Special Investigations Unit for effectively intervening in a highly dangerous situation for a mother and her four young children," District Attorney Larry Krasner said.

WASHINGTON - Falling gas prices gave Americans a slight break from the pain of high inflation last month, though the surge in overall prices slowed only modestly from the four-decade high it reached in June.Consumer prices jumped 8.5% in July compared with a year earlier, the government said Wednesday, down from a 9.1% year-over-year jump in June. On a monthly basis, prices were unchanged from June to July, the smallest such rise more than two years.Still, prices are spiking across a wide range of goods and services, leaving most Americans worse off.

PHILADELPHIA - Three teenagers were shot outside of a Popeyes in the Fairhill section of North Philadelphia, authorities say. According to police, the shooting happened Monday night at 4th Street and Lehigh Avenue, after a Popeyes store closed. The three teenagers were all employees of the Popeyes location, authorities told FOX 29's Steve Keeley. Police say the employees were sitting in a car when they were shot. One of the teens died from his injuries and the other two employees are in the hospital, authorities say.   The car the employees were in could be seen riddled with bullet holes and evidence markers were placed in the street as police analyzed the crime scene. Authorities have not released any other information about the shooting or a possible motive in the case. A late night shooting in North Philadelphia left 1 dead and two others injured, police say.
