HARRISBURG, Pa. - Montgomery County Commissioner Dr. Val Arkoosh announced Friday that she is suspending her campaign for U.S.
Senate. In a video announcing the news, Arkoosh said the move was made to 'help ensure' a flip of the battleground-state seat being vacated by two-term Republican Sen.
Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania."We cannot let anything stand in the way of a Democrat being elected to the U.S. Senate…it’s become clear to me that the best way I can ensure that happens is to suspend my campaign today and commit to doing whatever I can to help ensure we flip this Senate seat in November," Arkoosh said.The Democratic field still features John Fetterman, the state’s lieutenant governor, Conor Lamb, a third-term congressman from suburban Pittsburgh, and state Rep.
Malcolm Kenyatta of Philadelphia.Arkoosh, a physician, announced her candidacy back in April 2021 after a year of leading Montgomery County's pandemic response.
