Donnelly praises Donegal response as Covid-19 incidence rate falls

Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has praised the strong response to Covid-19 from local communities in Co Donegal. Mr Donnelly said the county no longer has the highest incidence of the disease in the country and it is continuing to fall.

It comes as NPHET's Modelling Advisory Group said the disease incidence among children and adolescents, which had increased recently, is now trending back towards the population average.

Kildare has now replaced Donegal as the county with the highest Covid-19 disease incidence in the country. That is not because the disease incidence in Kildare has risen.

Rather it is because the 14-day incidence in Donegal has fallen nearly six time faster than Kildare over the past week. it comes around 12 days after
