Donald Trump claims 99 per cent of coronavirus cases are "totally harmless" - despite the country's death toll surging to nearly 130,000.
More than 2.8million coronavirus cases have been recorded in America but the President says progress is being made. He spoke at the White House on Independence Day and insisted he was in control.
Many States reported record increases in cases last week but Trump says only a tiny minority of infections are killing people.
He had earlier branded the virus a "terrible plague from China" - and warned Beijing "must be held accountable" for its spread around the globe.
