Doctors on both side of the border have called for stricter controls to stop people making non-essentials journeys between Northern Ireland and the Republic in order to contain the spread of Covid-19 in both areas.
Dr Martin Coyne, a GP based in Lifford Health Centre said a garda presence is needed on the border to discourage casual travel.
Speaking to RTÉ's News at One, Dr Coyne said Donegal, which has the highest 14-day incidence rate in the country "is bearing the brunt of what's happening in Northern Ireland".
He said that while "we may be on Level 5 this side of Lifford Bridge, but Strabane is not on the equivalent, so our patients who are freely moving across the bridge are negating the effects of Level 5".
