ATLANTIC CITY - A development company has its sights set on Atlantic City's Bader Field for a flashy new multi-million dollar project that local leadership believes could be a shot in the arm to its economy.

Bader Field, once the site of one of the nation's first airports, has been deserted since 2006. Atlantic City Mayor called the plot of land "our last asset" and said local leadership needs to manage the property responsibly to "get a win-win-win for the taxpayers."The latest proposal from DEEM Enterprises has the Small and others excited: a $2.7M project that features hundreds of condos, surrounding a Motorsports facility and a technology hub.

Several artist renderings were shared to help envision the adventurous idea. A development company has its eye on Atlantic City's Bader Field for a $2.7M project. "All the past offers for Bader Field, people offered us $50M, and they didn't have $50M," Small said. "I think this is a credible group, It has some bigwigs in it, it has some local participation."The development includes laying sewer, water, and other infrastructure.

It would double the number of residential tax ratables in Atlantic City which would provide money badly needed at City Hall.

Citizens call for Briarcliffe Fire Company to lose certification over alleged racism caught on camera
DARBY TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Nearly a month after the Briarcliffe Fire Company was suspended for the alleged use of racial slurs on a recent virtual meeting, community members gathered to discuss the future of the department. The Darby Township Board of Commissioners on Wednesday held a special meeting that included many vocal community members who said they no longer trust the department. There was a call to remove the department's certification, but the board decided that they will not make any final decision until the District Attorney's Office is done with its investigation.Briarcliffe Fire Company was suspended after a Jan. 27 virtual meeting between township fire companies and commissioners about a potential consolidation. According to a letter from the Goodwill Fire Company obtained by FOX 29, following the end of the meeting, a group of people remained on the call. The letter says there was then a group of people that could be heard discussing the meeting using foul language, and identifies those involved in the conversation as members of the Briarcliffe Fire Company. A Delaware County fire company has been suspended for 30 days after members of the company allegedly uttered racist and derogatory comments following a virtual meeting late last month. The conversation, which lasted an hour and 45 minutes, allegedly included racial slurs when discussing members of other fire companies and township residents. One of the Briarcliffe Fire Company members was also accused of making a joke about, Fanta Bility, a young girl who was killed in a shooting in Sharon Hill last fall."It’s outright racism,", NAACP Local Chapter President Sheila Carter said.

Report on Minneapolis response to George Floyd protests: 'There was a void'
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The protests and riots in Minneapolis following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis have been a divisive topic in Minnesota, but one thing people of all political stripes have largely agreed on is the city didn't get its response right, from the loss of the third precinct and the failure to protect small business on Lake Street, to the hundreds of peaceful protesters who were injured by police projectiles.    Tuesday, the Minneapolis City Council received an after-action report on the city's response conducted by an independent firm with deep law enforcement experience that confirmed for many the extent of the city's failure and also pointed to its causes. Here are three key takeaways:During the more than two-hour-long meeting, the reports two presenters, Chad McGinty and Bob Boehmer, both retired veteran officers who now work for the consulting firm Jensen Hughes, returned again and again to a common theme: the breakdown in internal communication and the chain of command that occurred within the city and the police department as officials struggled to respond to the unprecedented level of protests, and eventually riots, that overtook the city.In a dispassionate tone, McGinty and Boehmer described how officers in the field became disconnected from command staff and left without clear guidance, while city leaders failed to update their staff or the community as the situation worsened. In the Q&A section, Councilmember Jeremiah Ellison pressed for detail.
