NICK COATSWORTH: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to today's coronavirus update. I can report that as of 1:30pm today, a total of 8886 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Australia, and tragically, 106 people have lost their lives to coronavirus disease.

There have been 147 new cases to 1:30pm today. The percentage of overseas-acquired cases in the last seven days has dropped to 10 per cent.

Of those 147 cases, 134 new cases emanating from Victoria, and of note, three new COVID-19 diagnoses made in the Australian Capital Territory today.

There are 46 people hospitalised with COVID-19, of whom eight are in intensive care units, and five of those are being ventilated to support their breathing through coronavirus.
