The Oireachtas Communications Committee has asked RTÉ to send it a report on a retirement gathering at which some staff members were photographed within two metres of each other.

The Committee has asked for information on the circumstances surrounding the organisation of the event and measures "being undertaken by RTÉ to review existing Covid-19 guidelines".

The Communications Committee chairperson Niamh Smyth said: "We will consider that report firstly and then decide how to proceed." Eimear Cusack, Director of Human Resources at RTÉ, has said that a full health and safety review is in progress over the gathering.
