Covid vaccines will stop 95% of UK deaths by March, scientists predict

Coronavirus vaccines are on course to stop 95% of deaths and two-thirds of hospital cases by March, a study has found. When 50% of the adult population are vaccinated, deaths will be drastically reduced and admissions to hospitals cut by 80%, according to the Association of Anaesthetists.

However, the study found the "substantial reductions in hospital and ICU admissions will not occur until late March and into April 2021".

Vaccinations will also have a slower impact on hospital and ICU admissions than on deaths, with the study claiming: "The early prioritisation of healthcare staff and clinically vulnerable patients increases the impact of vaccination on admissions and also protects the healthcare service.
