Nicola Sturgeon announced that some of Scotland's hospitals are currently "at capacity" due to a rise in cases and hospitalisations because of covid.

The First Minister also revealed that cases of the deadly virus are on the rise slightly across the country. It comes as Glasgow is set to welcome more than 30,000 delegates to the city for the COP26 United Nations climate conference.

Meanwhile, 20 new deaths were recorded due to the virus in the last 24 hours.In that same time period 2,262 cases were identified across the country.It brings the death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 9,072.There are currently 917 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 59
