The UK has recorded another 41,270 coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours - down from 46,025 on Saturday. A further 52 people have died with the virus, down from 167 yesterday.

Meanwhile the seven day average was more than 200,000 at the start of 2022. Case numbers have followed a downward trend overall since the latest peak over New Year.
This was on January 4 which recorded 273,491 new daily infections, according to the data by specimen date. But there is still a high presence of coronavirus across the country with cases still well above pre-Christmas levels.
