coronavirus figures show that the recent spike in Coronavirus cases in England has continued through September, with infection rates rising to 9,600 a day according to the Office for National Statistics.

ONS figures released on Friday, September 25, show that new cases of Covid-19 in England shot up to around 9,600 per day in the latest week to September 19 – up from around 6,000 per day during the previous week.

The news comes on the same day that London was added to the national coronavirus 'watch list' as cases spiked across the capital.

And, on Thursday, the government's daily Covid-19 figures recorded the highest single daily increase in coronavirus cases as 6,634 new infections, and 40 more deaths, were confirmed.

PHILADELPHIA - No one was injured after a gunman opened fire on a Philadelphia police officer during a shootout Wednesday afternoon in Germantown.Philadelphia Police Sergeant Eric Gripp told reporters that two plainclothes officers in an unmarked car were patrolling the 4800 block of Keyser Street around 2 p.m. when they came upon a shootout between a 23-year-old and a 20-year-old.
