Douglas Robert Ford (born November 20, 1964) is a Canadian businessman and politician serving as the 26th premier of Ontario since June 29, 2018. He represents the riding of Etobicoke North. With his brother Randy, Ford co-owns Deco Labels and Tags, a printing business operating in Canada and the United States that was founded by their father, Doug Ford Sr., who served as a Member of Provincial Parliament from 1995 to 1999. Ford was Toronto City Councillor for Ward 2 Etobicoke North from 2010 to 2014 at the same time that his brother, Rob Ford, was Mayor of Toronto. Ford ran for the 2014 Toronto mayoral election, where he placed second behind John Tory. COVID-19 vaccinations for education workers.Andrea Horwath has said she supports regular rapid virus tests for unvaccinated education workers before they come to work.She told CBC in an interview Wednesday that she considers it a charter right for people to refuse the vaccine.Progressive Conservative Premier Doug Ford has also said he won’t mandate vaccinations for workers, saying he thinks it’s a constitutional right to refuse the shot.

More than 80 per cent of eligible Ontarians have now received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose

Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott says more than 80 per cent of people in the province aged 12 and older have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.That means one of three conditions the province has set for moving beyond Step 3 of its reopening plan has now been met.The government has also said 75 per cent of people 12 and older must have received their second dose, and no public health unit can have less than 70 per cent of eligible people fully vaccinated.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Monday he would encourage health-care workers who still have not gotten vaccinated to do so, but said he would not force anyone to get their inoculation. Asked about one hospital system requiring staff to present a negative test if not vaccinated to work, Ford said he supports that policy, though would not dictate other hospitals to do the same.
