COVID-19 surge: South Dakota cases increase nearly 4 times over 2 weeks

STURGIS, S.D. - The number of COVID-19 cases in South Dakota increased nearly four-fold over a span of two weeks, according to data collected by the U.S.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Data collected on the week of Aug. 6 showed South Dakota had 323 new COVID-19 cases, which was up about 14% from the previous week.

However, data collected for the week of Aug. 20 showed new COVID-19 cases reached 1,384, a 55% increase from the previous week, according to the CDC.
